About the artist

London and California-based musician, songwriter, and record producer Cy Najjar, known under his stage name as CY, recently released his latest self-titled album on September 24, 2020, to audiences worldwide. The recording is a heartfelt message that speaks to society's current challenges and draws deeply from many of his life experiences thus far. The album's lead single, "Be Your Own Hero," quickly topped the Reverbnation charts, reaching Number 1 worldwide in Pop listings.

Cy has achieved remarkable career success in several enterprises, including industrial design and biotechnology. Despite this, for over twenty-five years, music has remained an integral part of his life. His first introduction to music came through piano, followed by learning guitar.

At age fifteen, he started recording and performing with various bands and labels throughout the UK. Shortly after that, he began playing concerts at larger venues with thousands of people attending.

Cy received his first record deal on EMI London when he was seventeen years old. His albums were very well received, and his last release, with Virgin Records, topped the charts for over twelve weeks.

Over the years, Cy has produced and composed various songs and albums. While he considers his early work to be more elaborate and complex musically, as time moved on, he found himself focusing more on the art of crafting a song. His most recent project, CY, finally materialized after eighteen long months and was enhanced by collaborations with exceptional musicians in Nashville and Los Angeles. The work is a personal story that recounts his journeys and the many adventures along the way.

"Be You Own Hero" was written about a war veteran that Cy had met in California, and tells the vet's experience returning home after discovering that he had lost everything during his deployment. "Broken" is drawn from stories from multiple battered women and domestic violence victims who suffered from physical and or mental abuse during the covid 19 confinement. "The Only One" draws inspiration from the vanity that inhabits all of us and is exposed through social media. Furthermore, our obsession with needing attention and validation has created the world to be unrecognizable and seemingly hollow.

Cy is both relieved and proud to have been able to complete and release his album amid the global pandemic. Of it, he says, "This is an album that came after quite a bit of time and work. I found it was more challenging to make it simpler than my previous work."

CY features Cy (guitar, backing vocals, composition, songwriting, and production); Andrew Galucki (vocals guitar and co-production); and Caleb Gilbreath (drums), and was recorded in Nashville, TN, Los Angeles, CA, and London, UK. It was mixed and mastered by Matt Dougherty and is currently available on all major digital music platforms.
